Exactlyish.
The musical fabric of this song is based on a guitar texture, in B minor, with a very reverberant, gloopy sound. This sound underpins all parts of the song, which, to me, was suitable for what is a threnody. Perhaps a recollection of Mozart - Don Giovanni or Requiem Mass - was in my mind but a minor third lower. The half time version published by The Bowersmiths makes this sound more evident than the new "dance" version above but the chord sequences for verse (Bm D F#m A etc) and chorus (F#m A Bm) both work effectively over the top of this textural and harmonic pedal. The chorus is anthemic and celebratory despite misgivings - how good funerals are meant to be.
